Pune: Man Defrauded Of Rs 55 Lakh With Lure Of Getting Cricket Team In America

Pune, 6th December 2022: A political party office bearer in Pune has been defrauded of lakhs of rupees with the lure of getting shares in the USA Cricket League. Five people from Mumbai together demanded Rs one crore to buy a team in the cricket league in America.

 

Ashish Kante (41) has lodged a complaint with the police. A case of cheating has been registered against Saurabh Pandey, Vandana Krishna, Rashid Khan, Siraj Hussain, and Vikram Hussain.

 

According to the information given by the police, the accused have a company called “Brainstorm”. The accused and the complainant Kante knew each other. At that time, there was a discussion between them about the USA Cricket League. All these accused demanded Rs one crore from Kante by luring him into USA Cricket Council to get a team in 20-20 cricket format and 40 per cent shares in the cricket league.

 

Falling prey to this lure, Kante had also paid Rs 55 lakh to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in this regard. Kante also visited America to bring this certificate. But due to not getting the certificate, when Kante asked the accused, they gave vague answers.

 

As soon as Kante realised he was cheated in this case, he reached the police station. The incident began in January 2019. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 34, 406, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Alankar Police Station. Police are conducting further investigation.
