Maharashtra: 26,538 New Covid-19 Cases, 144 Omicron Patients Reported Today

Mumbai, 5th January 2022: 26,538 new Covid-19 positive cases reported in Maharashtra while 5331 patients reported today,  65,24,247 COVID-19 patients discharged after full recovery until today. The Recovery rate in the state is 96.55%.

8 COVID-19 deaths reported in the state today. Case fatality rate in the state is 2.09%.

Out of 6,97,77,007 laboratory samples 67,57,032 have been tested positive (9.68%) for COVID-19
until today.

Currently 5,13,758 people are in home quarantine and 1366 people are in institutional quarantine.

Omicron surveillance related information:-
Today, 144 patients with Omicron infection have been reported in the state. All patients have
been reported by National Institute of Virology.

Mumbai – 100
Nagpur -11
Thane MC & Pune MC -7
PCMC- 6
Kolhapur-5
Amravati , Ulhasnagar and Bhivandi Nizampur -2 each
Panvel & Osmanabad -1 each

Till date, a total of 797 patients infected with Omicron variant have been reported in the state.

Out of these, 330 cases have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test.
The details of international passengers arriving at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports from 1st December till today morning.

Additionally, field surveillance of all international passengers who have arrived since 1st November is underway. Through airport and field surveillance, 2541 samples have been sent for genomic sequencing. Results of 102 are awaited so far.
