Maharashtra : 35 thousand 336 students benefited under Swadhar scheme

Mumbai, August 5, 2019: In last four years, 35 thousand 336 students have been benefited under the Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Swadhar Yojana, that was started from the academic year 2016-17. This information was given by Social Justice minister Dr Suresh Khade here today.

  Minister Khade further said that the government transfers the Funds directly in the accounts of those SC and Nav Buddh (NB) category students who could not get admission to the government hostels despite being eligible and were not able to pursue higher education. The amount for the SC and NB students is at par with that given to the students in government hostels for meals, residence and other necessities. He said that the educational expenditure of the students is reimbursed under this scheme. He also said that the students who are pursuing class 11th, degree or postgraduate education in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur city are given the annual expenditure between 48 thousand to 60 thousand per head. He said that till date 35 thousand 336 students has been benefited under this scheme and 11 7. 42  crore rupees have been distributed.

Increase in Grant for nutritious food

The Social Justice Department, women and child development department, vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribe (VJNT), OBC and special backward class SBC department are running granted hostels, residential schools and ashramshala for disabled girls and boys and such schools run for mentally retarded children, residential schools and schools by voluntary organizations are given grant for nutritious food. He said that duet to the inflation rate, the grant given to the students in such institutions has been raised from rupees 900 to 1500. Similarly, the grant for mentally retarded and disable students had been raised to rupees 1650 from rupees 990.
