Maharashtra: 76 New Interceptor Vehicles In Flying Squad Added To Department Of Motor Vehicles

Mumbai, 31 August 2021: Maharashtra is at the forefront of setting up an ultramodern regulatory system through the Department of Transport to take action against vehicles and drivers violating traffic rules. This system will be useful in the prevention of road accidents and loss of life, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray here today.

 

Distribution of 76 modern vehicles to the regional offices of the State Transport Department was done at the hands of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at the MMRDA ground, Bandra Kurla Complex. Transport Minister Adv. Anil Parab, Minister of State for Transport Satej alias Bunty D. Patil, Additional Chief Secretary to the Transport Department Ashish Kumar Singh, Transport Commissioner Avinash Dhakne and others were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister also inspected the vehicles.

 

The Chief Minister said that many people lost their lives during the Corona epidemic and the number of victims due to the accidents of speeding vehicles on the roads is in the thousands.

 

Failure to comply with the rules, though appeals are made not to drive at high speeds, increases the number of accidents. To curb this, vehicles equipped with up-to-date machinery and system have been introduced and through this, the state of Maharashtra feels proud to be at the forefront in setting up the modern system, Shree Thackeray said on the occasion.

 

Expressing his satisfaction that the Department of Transport is working on an updated system, the Chief Minister hoped that the use of this modern system would certainly reduce the number of accidents and prevent loss of life.

 

The lives of speeding drivers and their companions are lost without any reason. Innocent civilians are often killed in vehicle accidents. It is the duty of the government to save them without any loss of life. The government is trying its best to reduce the death toll from the Corona epidemic or accidents. Shree Thackeray also said that the government will always cooperate to make the flying squad of the transport department more capable.

 

Transport Minister Anil Parab said that the guidelines by the Central and State Governments have been laid down to reduce the number of road accidents in the country. Unfortunately, the number of accidents in Maharashtra had increased during the last year. To reduce this, the state government decided to provide 76 vehicles equipped with modern equipment’s to the flying squads.

 

Through these vehicles, the number of accidents and unruly traffic will be brought under control. Maharashtra will succeed in preventing accidents in future. He also said that these vehicles will also be used to bring down the position of the state in terms of the accident rate. Action will be taken against speeding and unruly drivers through the flying squad.
