Maharashtra: 8 Omicron Covid Positive Patients Reported Today
Mumbai, 18 December 2021: As per the report given by National Institute of Virology today, 8 more patients have been found to be infected with Omicron in the state. Out of these, 4 patients are from Mumbai Airport surveillance, 3 from Satara and 1 patient is from Pune Municipal Corporation area.
Till date, a total of 48 patients infected with Omicron virus have been reported in the state. (Mumbai-18, Pimpri Chinchwad-10, Pune (Rural)-6, Pune Municipal Corporation-3, Satara -3, Kalyan Dombivali-2, Osmanabad-2, Latur -1, Buldhana-1, Nagpur-1, and Vasai Virar-1).
Out of these, 28 cases have been discharged after a negative RT PCR test.
Information of 8 patients diagnosed with Omicron today:
4 Patients from Mumbai:
o All four patients in Mumbai have been identified through airport screening. Out of these, one patient is from Mumbai.
o Out of the remaining 3 patients, one patient each is a resident of Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Jalgaon.
o Two of them had travelled to Africa, one to Tanzania and one to England.
o All four are fully vaccinated and asymptomatic. All are currently in isolation.
3 Patients from Satara:
o They are members of the same family with a travel history to East Africa, all are without symptoms and in isolation. Except for the 8-year-old girl, the other two have been fully vaccinated.
• A patient from Pune is a close contact of an international traveller and this 17-year-old girl has no symptoms. As she is under 18 years of age, she has not been vaccinated.
