Pune, 27th December 2025: In a major breakthrough against synthetic drug trafficking, the Maharashtra Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has busted and destroyed three MD drug manufacturing units in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and seized contraband and equipment worth ₹55.88 crore, officials said on Friday.

The action followed a December 21 seizure by the Konkan unit of the ANTF in Navi Mumbai’s Vashi area, where 1.488 kg of MD drugs worth ₹1.48 crore was recovered from Abdul Kader Rashid Shaikh near the old bus depot along the Pune–Mumbai highway. A case was registered at Vashi police station under the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

Further investigation and technical analysis led the police to Prashant Yallappa Patil, a Belagavi resident identified as a key manufacturer of MD drugs. The probe revealed that the narcotics were being produced at three clandestine facilities in Bengaluru. Acting on this information, police teams reached Bengaluru and detained Suraj Ramesh Yadav and Malkhan Ramlal Bishnoi, both originally from Rajasthan but allegedly operating an illegal MD drug network in the city.

During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed and led police to three drug manufacturing units located at Spandana Layout Colony and the NG Gollahalli area under the guise of an entity named RJ Event, as well as an RCC house in a residential locality at Yerappanahalli, Kannur. Raids at these locations resulted in the seizure of 21.4 kg of MD drugs, including 4.1 kg in solid form and 17 kg in liquid form, along with manufacturing machinery and various chemical substances.

Police officials said the total value of the seized material is estimated at ₹55.88 crore. The three MD drug factories were subsequently dismantled and destroyed. Investigators have found that the drugs produced at these units were supplied to multiple states across India, and that the accused had allegedly invested proceeds from the illegal trade in large-scale property purchases in Bengaluru.

So far, four accused have been arrested in the case, while police teams are actively searching for two more key suspects. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Sunil Ramanand, Additional Director General of Police, State CID Pune; Sharda Raut, Special Inspector General of Police, ANTF Maharashtra; Praveenkumar Patil, Deputy Inspector General of Police and ANTF SP MM Makandar and Additional SP Krishanat Pingle.

Senior officers and personnel from the Pune and Konkan action groups played a key role in executing the interstate operation.
