Pune, 27th March 2023: More than 366,548 parents have submitted applications for admission under the Right to Education Act (RTE) in the online admission process for 25% of reserved seats in private schools.

This year, the number of applications has increased by over 80,000 compared to last year, and now the attention of the parents has turned to the admission draw. With the rise in applications, it is expected that the admission process will be more challenging.

The deadline for applying for the online admission process for the academic year 2023-24 for children belonging to economically and socially disadvantaged sections under RTE ended on Saturday (25th March). A total of 366,548 parents have applied for 101,969 seats available in 8,828 schools across the state, which means that there are over 3.5 times more applications than available seats in this year’s admission process.

Following the verification of applications in the RTE admission process, the admission draw is expected to be announced by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in the first week of April. Parents will receive a notification on their registered mobile numbers regarding their child’s admission status. Additionally, parents can check their child’s admission status by entering their application number and password.

The Directorate of Primary Education has assured parents that sufficient time will be given to admitting the children whose admission has been announced.
