Maharashtra: CET Cell to Conduct Second Round of BBA, BCA Entrance Exam for Second Year in a Row

Mumbai, 6th June 2025: In a significant move aimed at safeguarding students’ academic interests, the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has decided to conduct an additional CET for undergraduate courses in Business Administration (BBA, BBM, BMS) and Computer Applications (BCA). The decision comes after several registered students were unable to appear for the first round of the entrance exam.
This marks the second consecutive year that the CET for these courses will be conducted twice, as the initial attempt failed to generate adequate participation, leading to fears of widespread vacant seats across colleges once again.
Low Turnout Raises Concerns-
This year, a total of 72,259 students registered for the exam, but only 61,666 candidates appeared. This dropout rate has triggered concern among educational authorities, as over one lakh seats are available for these courses across Maharashtra.
A similar scenario had unfolded last year, where even after conducting two CETs, a large number of seats in BBA and BCA programs remained unfilled. These courses, since last year, have come under the purview of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), making centralized entrance testing mandatory.
Demand from Stakeholders Prompted Decision-
Following the announcement of the CET 2025 results, multiple educational institutions, students, and parents reached out to the CET Cell through emails, phone calls, and in-person requests, urging the state to organize a second round of the entrance exam.
Taking these appeals into account, and considering the academic future of thousands of students, the government has approved the decision to hold an additional CET.
Official Circular and Future Announcements-
According to an official circular issued by the CET Cell, the additional entrance test is specifically meant for eligible candidates who missed the first round. The schedule, application process, and guidelines for the exam will be announced soon on the official State CET Cell website.
Officials have assured that the supplementary exam will be conducted in a transparent and timely manner, giving students another opportunity to secure admission to their preferred undergraduate programs.
This move is expected to boost enrollments, reduce vacancy rates, and ensure wider access to professional education in business and computer application fields.
