Maharashtra: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Directs Authorities To Ensure Covid-19 Precautionary Actions

Nagpur, 22nd December 2022: Amid the increase in Covid cases worldwide, precautions are being taken in Maharashtra too.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today directed that District Collectors and local bodies should communicate that Covid-19 precautions should be strictly followed. While appealing to the citizens not to panic, all guardian ministers should ensure that health facilities remain ready in their respective districts.
Before the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the Covid situation in the state in a special meeting at the Vidhan Bhavan. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan, Health Minister Dr Tanaji Sawant, Food and Drug Administration Minister Sanjay Rathod, Chief Secretary Manukumar Srivastava and others were present.

Though the covid situation in the state is under complete control, internationally, cases are seen increasing in countries like China, Japan, America, and Brazil. In China, the BF7 variant of the Covid virus is growing more rapidly. In this background, the information and review of the genetic sequencing system in the state was taken on this occasion.
Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Dr Sanjay Khandare, gave a presentation on the Covid situation. It was said there are currently 2216 Covid hospitals and 1.34 lakh isolation beds in the state.
The central government has directed the implementation of the ‘Panch Sutras’ of testing, tracking, treatment, vaccination and appropriate behaviour for Covid. Accordingly, the Chief Minister gave directions to implement Panchsutri in all the districts.
