Maharashtra: Decision Medical Examination Before April 16 – Minister Amit Deshmukh

Pune, 13th April 2021: Considering the current Coronavirus disease (COVID19) situation and the possibility of strict lockdown in Maharashtra state, the medical education department will decide about organising medical examinations. The decision will be taken within 72 hours after a discussion with various stakeholders, Amit Deshmukh, medical education minister, said yesterday.

Exams for MBBS and BDS courses will be held from 19th April 2021, but students are demanding to postpone the exams.

In an online program organised by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) Nashik, the minister communicated with various medical students’ unions and senate members.

Vice-chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Director of medical education Dr Tatyarao Lahane, University secretary Dr KD Chavhan, professors and students participated in this program.

Deshmukh said, “As the state government is planning to implement strict lockdown, there might be difficulties for students to attend the exams. I have already discussed it with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey. I am assuring you that the decision will be taken within 72 hours after the issue will be discussed with the Governer, Chief Minister, National Medical Council, Central Health Ministry and medical education department.”
