Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 20th January 2024: In a shocking incident, Deepak Girhe, the Superintendent of Police at Nashik CID and former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, drove his SUV into three individuals while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The victims include the security guard of the vice chancellor’s bungalow and two tourists from Buldhana. This marks the third accident involving Girhe in the past month and a half.

Girhe, who was recently transferred from the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police in Sambhajinagar to the Superintendent of Police in Nashik CID, encountered the accident during his journey to the city. The incident occurred near Gogababa hill in the city, where Girhe’s car collided with two people, resulting in minor injuries to himself.

The situation escalated when the locals, witnessing the accident, chased Girhe’s car and pelted stones, forcing the SUV to veer into a ditch. A viral video captured the moment as the crowd surrounded Girhe, who appeared intoxicated. In the video, Girhe can be seen pleading with the onlookers, acknowledging his mistakes and asking not to be humiliated.

This incident has brought Girhe under scrutiny once again, as he has been involved in three accidents within the city in the last month and a half. Despite the severity of the situation, no official complaint has been filed with the police yet. However, citizens are expressing their discontent, questioning the frequency of such accidents involving a senior police officer.
