Maharashtra government considering to hike Resident Doctors stipend

Pune, June 5, 2020: Maharashtra State Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh said that the long pending demand of resident doctors to increase their stipend of Rs 55000 is being considered. These doctors had written multiple letters to the Chief Minister demanding Rs 25000 increase in their stipend.

The demand was made by resident doctors after the state government published advertisements for recruitment that offered Rs 90000 to MBBS graduates in Pune and Mumbai. In the meantime, the resident doctors in Pune and many other places are yet to receive their April and May stipends, while the permanent doctors had face salary cuts.

Medical exams from July 15
The examinations are being planned keeping in view the number of coronavirus patients in the state and the examinations of the medical education department will start from July 15. We are also preparing to start the academic year of medical students on time, Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh said at a press conference in Pune. But he also clarified that the decision would be taken according to the circumstances of the time.

Approval for recruitment in the health department
“In many parts of the state, doctors and nurses are working on a war footing. I salute the work of all of them. Wherever the position of the doctor, nurse or other staff is vacant, all be filled in the backdrop of the epidemic. Approval has been given to fill the vacant positions and action has been initiated in that regard, ”Deshmukh said.

Deshmukh held a special meeting in Pune on the background of coronavirus epidemic. After the meeting, he spoke to journalists and commented on a number of issues.
