Maharashtra Government Declares Weekend Lockdown; Only Work From Home Allowed, Detailed Guidelines To Be Issued Soon

Pune, 4 April 2021: Due to the exponential rise in Coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases, the Maharashtra state government has taken an important decision. 

Some strict restrictions have been imposed till April 30. The state cabinet met today. Although there is no lockdown, the rules will be tightened. Minister Nawab Malik said some important decisions were taken to stop the spread of COVID19. Some strict restrictions have been imposed in the state. The lockdown will be from 8 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday, said Nawab Malik.  

What is allowed, not allowed in Maharashtra now?

  • Lockdown from 8 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday
  • Local train will continue
  • Gym will close
  • Permission for essential services
  • Restaurant, mall closed but take away service will continue
  • Only people in essential services are allowed to drive
  • Only essential services will continue at night
  • There will be restrictions on religious places
  • Cinemas, theatres completely closed
  • Gardens, grounds closed
  • The local administration has the right to make decisions where cases are on the rise
  • Shooting of movies and serials cannot be done in large numbers
  • Rickshaw-driver + 2 people
  • Wear a mask in a taxi
  • Instructions to the offices to start work from home
  • Visitors not allowed at Mantralaya, important places 

Over 40,000 new patients are being reported every day for the last few days. A curfew has already been imposed in several cities in the state, including Pune. A meeting of the state cabinet has been convened today to take a decision on the lockdown. In his address to state on April 2, Chief Minister Thackeray had that a decision on lockdown would be taken in the next two days.

 

Before taking a decision, the Chief Minister had a dialogue with Raj Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis

Against the backdrop of the increasing prevalence of corona in the state, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held discussions with the Opposition. He also held discussions with Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and MNS chief Raj Thackeray today. 

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena should cooperate in such a situation as the lockdown may have to be adopted due to the increasing number of corona patients in the state, appealed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to Raj Thackeray in a telephone conversation.

Seeing the growing Corona situation in the state, Chief Minister Thackeray had a discussion with Leader of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis yesterday. The two leaders had discussed the need to impose strict restrictions in view of the Corona situation in the state. The Chief Minister had sought the cooperation of the Opposition in the decisions to be taken by the government. Opposition leader Fadnavis is reportedly ready to co-operate.

Chief Minister’s appeal to the business sector

In view of the increasing incidence of covid, the industry should call minimum workers at a time. To prevent the pandemic, they should make arrangements to accommodate the workers in their factory premises, work from home where it is possible to work.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that even if he is a contract worker, he should take care of his family and take care of their livelihood. Responding positively to the Chief Minister’s call during a virtual meeting, many industrialists supported the government’s decision.  

A record number of coronavirus patients were reported in the state again yesterday. The number of patients infected with corona has increased by 49,447 in the state yesterday. Yesterday new 37821 corona infected patients were cured.
