Maharashtra Government Introduces Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme 2024
Maharashtra, 13th February 2024: The Maharashtra government has introduced a new initiative known as the “Maharashtra Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme” with the goal of fostering unity and understanding among various caste groups. This scheme is designed to break down the obstacles associated with caste differences in romantic relationships and marriages, providing support and encouragement to individuals seeking to wed someone from a different community.
Under this scheme, couples who opt for inter-caste marriages will receive a substantial incentive from the government, totaling up to a generous sum of 3 lakh rupees. This initiative comes as a beacon of progress, aiming to put an end to centuries-old caste discrimination and encouraging individuals to follow their hearts without fear of societal backlash.
Residents of Maharashtra who have married someone from a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe within the state are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme. Additionally, their marriage must be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, or the Special Marriage Act, 1954.
Under this scheme, eligible couples will receive a total of 3 lakh rupees, with an equal contribution from both the state and central governments. Furthermore, an additional amount of 2.50 lakh rupees will be provided by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation.
There are no income restrictions for availing of this scheme, ensuring that individuals from all economic backgrounds can benefit from it. The incentive will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, requiring only a valid Aadhaar card linked to their account.
To avail of the benefits of this scheme, interested individuals need to visit the scheme’s official website and fill out the application form provided under the “Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme” section. Along with the form, applicants must attach copies of all the required documents listed, including their Aadhaar card, caste certificate, age proof, marriage registration certificate, bank account passbook, mobile number, and passport-sized photograph.
Once all the necessary steps are completed and the application is submitted, applicants will be registered online, and after verification, they will start receiving the benefits of the scheme.
With the launch of the Maharashtra Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme 2024, the government reaffirms its commitment to breaking down the barriers of caste and supporting individuals in their pursuit of love and equality.
