Pune, 19th July 2023: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for the possibility of heavy rainfall in several districts of the Maharashtra state. In response, the State Education Commissioner, Suraj Mandhare, has proposed declaring holidays for all medium schools from class 1 to 12 in districts under the red alert.

As the intensity of rain increases across the state, the Directorate of Education is taking precautionary measures to ensure student safety. With the likelihood of heavy rains causing inconvenience in commuting to and from schools, Mandhare suggests the decision to declare holidays should be based on the safety of the students. He has advised all District Collectors to consider this suggestion seriously.
