Maharashtra: Land Survey Notices to Be Sent via e-Post and Speed Post to Ensure Timely Delivery

Pune, 3rd August 2026: In a move aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in land survey proceedings, the Maharashtra Land Records Department has decided to send land survey notices through the e-Post system and Speed Post under its e-Measurement (e-Mojani) platform.

The new system is expected to ensure that all stakeholders receive survey notices on time, reducing delays in land measurement proceedings and enabling faster disposal of cases. The state government has approved ₹2.80 crore to implement the initiative.

Under the existing legal framework, the Land Records Department is required to issue survey notices to all concerned parties before carrying out an official land measurement. These include the survey number or group number holder, the applicant, co-owners, adjoining landowners, and all individuals whose names are recorded in the land records.

Previously, survey notices were printed and dispatched manually by the Deputy Superintendent’s office through the postal department. The process involved considerable paperwork, manpower, and time, often leading to delays in delivering notices and postponement of survey proceedings.

With the new system, once a survey notice is generated through the e-Mojani 2 platform, it will be transmitted electronically to the postal department. The post office will then print the notice and deliver it to the concerned parties through Speed Post, eliminating several manual steps in the process.

Officials said the initiative will ensure timely delivery of notices, increase transparency in land survey procedures, save administrative time, and help expedite the resolution of land-related cases across the state. The department expects the digital system to make the survey process more efficient while improving service delivery for citizens.
