Pune, April 26, 2021: Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh today said that the first, second and third-year examinations of MBBS will now be held in June. The exams will be held in the first week of June. The decision to postpone the exam was made against the backdrop of a growing Covid infection.

“Due to the exams, the students were facing many difficulties in getting to and from the examination center. In addition, many students have been detected with the Covid-19. In view of all this, we decided to postpone the exam,” said Deshmukh.

Announcing the decision to postpone the exams earlier, he said, “The examinations of medical students to be conducted by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) from April 19 will be held in June after discussions with the Chief Minister. A detailed examination schedule will be announced by MUHS. Discussions have also been held with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Health Minister Rajesh Tope and Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman Nana Patole about postponing the exam.”

About 50,000 students will appear for the exam. Given this number, the possibility of the spread of the Covid at present cannot be ruled out. Therefore, there was a demand from the students that this examination should be postponed.
