MIT ADT University students Apurva Gosavi win the Maharashtra Health Hackathon 2021

Pune, 27 April 2021: Apurva Gosavi a second year student of MIT School of Bioengineering Sciences & Research, a constituent unit of MIT ADT University, Rajbagh campus Pune was part of the winning team in Maharashtra Health Hackathon (MH2) a first of its kind event from 23rd to 25th April 2021 to promote innovative solutions for addressing key challenges faced by the Government Department in Maharashtra. She won the award in the Track D Medical Devices category for idea proposition for a neonatal device that aimed at saving infants from hypothermia. Apart from the contribution in background research she designed the logo and presentation for the team.

In yet another achievement in a parallely organized event, MTech Bioengineering student Anu Oswal won the mentor’s pick award as well as the people’s choice award in the Copenhagen Bioinformatics Hackathon 2021. She along with two team members from IIT Delhi built a deep learning model using CNN and RNN for predicting of T Cell binding to its potential targets an area of interest in vaccine development and cancer immunotherapy. The team won the award for the biological understanding and the best performing model in the track.
Both the students attributed their success to the innovative atmosphere and research aptitude inculcated since first year at the Bioengineering institute. Executive President and Vice Chancellor of MIT ADT University Hon Dr Mangesh Karad, Director & Managing Trustee Prof. Vinayak Ghaisas and Head of School Dr Renu Vyas expressed deep sense of joy and pride towards the students successful endeavours in innovating and developing cutting edge technologies.
