Pune, 26th November 2024: None of the candidates from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were elected in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections. The party had expected some wins in Western Maharashtra, including Pune and Mumbai. Now, party president Raj Thackeray plans to meet with the defeated candidates and local office bearers from Pune city and Western Maharashtra, following meetings in Mumbai and Thane. The discussions will also focus on the party’s future direction. The meeting, organised by Pune city officials, is set to take place on Thursday, with Raj Thackeray visiting Pune on Wednesday and Thursday.

MNS, which had publicly supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections, fielded candidates in the Kothrud, Khadakwasla, and Kasba Peth constituencies against BJP candidates in Pune. They also put up a candidate in the Hadapsar constituency against both factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). However, all MNS candidates were defeated, although some constituencies saw strong voter support. With pending local body elections in Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray will meet with candidates and local office bearers to analyse the reasons behind the defeat and determine the future direction of the party.
