Mumbai, 17th December 2021: Due to the non-conduct of examinations for government service during the Corona period, many candidates had crossed the maximum age limit and now there was a fear that the doors of Maharashtra government service would be closed to them.

But now Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has considered this and allowed the candidates who have crossed the maximum age to sit for the competitive examinations as a one-time special case. The General Administration Department (GAD) today issued a government resolution (GR) in this regard.

It has been stated that since the advertisement for direct service in the government service has not been published since March 1, 2020, on the background of Corona, the maximum age limit prescribed for appointment by the government through the service admission rule of the relevant post or by the ruling dated 25.04.2016. Candidates who have passed the period from March 01, 2020, to the date of this GR, will have the opportunity to sit for the examination as a “One Time Special Matter” for the advertisements which will be published in the government service from the date of this GR till 31 December 2022.

In cases where advertisements have been published in the near future due to reduced cases of corona and the last date of application mentioned in the advertisement will be after the date of this ruling, also in the period from 01 March 2020 to the date of this ruling by the relevant post. Candidates who have exceeded the maximum age limit prescribed for appointment by Government Resolution dated 25.04.2016. Such candidates are also being given the opportunity to sit for the exam as a “one time special case”.

In cases where advertisements have been published in recent times due to reduced cases of corona, the last date for the application mentioned in the advertisements has been overturned before the date of this ruling. However, the exams have not been conducted in reality. In the period from 01st March 2020 to the date of this GR candidates who have exceeded the maximum age limit prescribed for appointment by Government Resolution dated 25.04.2016.

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) or the concerned selection committee should allow such candidates to submit applications so that they too will get a chance to sit for the exam, the GR states.
