Maharashtra RTE Admissions 2025: Over 81,000 Students Secure Seats; Second Round Begins to Fill Vacant Quota
Pune, 10th April 2025: Over 81,000 students across Maharashtra have secured admission under the 25% reservation quota mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the academic year 2025–26. To fill the remaining vacant seats, the second round of allotment from the waiting list began on April 8 and will continue until April 15.
This year, the RTE admission process spans 8,863 private unaided schools, offering more than 1.09 lakh seats. Despite receiving over 3 lakh applications, only 69,654 children have confirmed their admission from the 1.01 lakh initially selected.
“A total of 85,457 children remain on the waiting list. In the first round, over 26,000 were allotted seats, but only 12,060 completed the admission process. With over 27,000 seats still vacant, the second round has now been initiated,” said Sharad Gosavi, Director of Primary Education.
The RTE quota aims to provide free education to children from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in private schools.
Authorities have urged parents to complete the admission process promptly if their child is allotted a seat in the second round.
