Nanded, 20th January 2022: Today the second accused Keshav Shivaji Pawar (41) was arrested in the detonator blast case. However, cops are yet to decipher the motive for which the accused had bought the detonators.

A judicial magistrate court remanded Pawar, a native of Ambika Nagar in HUDCO in Parbhani district, to police custody for two days for further investigation. We are yet to find evidence regarding accused persons if they are associated with any organisation, said investigating officer PSI Asad Shaikh.

According to police, Pawar had kept the detonators brought from a stone crushing unit in Himayatnagar, at the house of his in-laws in Shantinagar. His brother-in-law Deepak Digambar Dhongade (24), who works as a salesman at a clothes store, was injured when tried to ignite one of the detonators on January 8.

A case was registered on January 13 after the Popular Front of India (PFI) district general secretary alerted the police. After a preliminary enquiry, an FIR was registered on January 13. Dhongade was arrested after discharge from the hospital. He is currently lodged in Nanded Central Jail.

While demanding accused’s custody, Assistant Public Prosecutor Girish More argued that his custody is required to conduct a thorough probe and find out if he has any accomplice. “Pawar had asked Dhongade to keep the detonators safely as they are precious which have to be used later”, More said.
