Maharashtra Social Justice Department Urges Students to Apply for Foreign Scholarship

Pune, 10th March 2025: The Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of Maharashtra Government is encouraging students from the Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist communities to apply for the Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Scholarship, which offers financial aid for postgraduate and Ph.D. studies abroad. Each year, 75 students are selected for this program, with applications open online until April 30th.

The primary objective of this scheme is to support students pursuing higher education in prestigious foreign universities ranked within the top 200 by QS World University Rankings. The selection process includes reserving 30% of the spots for female candidates based on merit. Eligible students can download the application form from the official government website and submit it online along with necessary documents.

Beneficiaries of this scholarship will receive assistance with airfare, tuition fees at foreign institutions, living allowances, and contingency expenses. The age limit for postgraduate programs is 35 years, while for Ph.D. programs, it is 40 years. Social Welfare Commissioner Om Prakash Bakoria has appealed to all eligible students to apply for this opportunity, emphasizing the importance of availing this chance for advanced education abroad.
