Mumbai, 9th October 2025: In a move aimed at promoting eco-friendly public transport and offering convenience to regular commuters, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced a monthly and quarterly pass scheme for passengers using its electric bus services across the state.

The announcement was made by Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik, who said that the initiative will help attract daily travelers to the corporation’s e-bus services by making travel more economical.

“The main objective of this scheme is to provide convenience and affordability to passengers who commute regularly on the same routes for work or business. Many passengers had requested a pass system for e-buses, and we have now implemented it,” Sarnaik said.

Currently, the MSRTC operates 448 electric buses under its e-bus project and 50 e-buses under the Shivai project, with plans to expand the fleet further in the coming months.

Key Features of the New Pass Scheme
Availability: The passes will be available for 9-metre e-buses, 12-metre e-buses, and e-Shivai services (excluding the e-Shivaneri service).
Monthly Pass (30 Days): Available at the return fare of 20 days.
Quarterly Pass (90 Days): Available at the return fare of 60 days.
Service Class Flexibility: Passengers with a higher-class pass (e-bus) can travel in comfort or ordinary buses as well.
Fare Difference Rule: Pass holders of comfort or ordinary services traveling by e-bus will need to pay 100% of the fare difference to obtain a valid ticket.
Minister Sarnaik expressed confidence that the new pass system will not only provide relief to daily commuters but also encourage the use of clean, electric, and sustainable public transport in Maharashtra.
