Pune, 25th January 2024: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has decided to provide an additional 10 minutes after the conclusion of secondary school certificate (SSC, Std X) and higher secondary certificate (HSC, Std XII) board examinations. This extra time is allocated to allow students the opportunity to review their answer sheets thoroughly.

The board has officially announced the updated time duration for each paper, incorporating this new change. Anuradha Oak, the Secretary of the state board, addressed the media on Wednesday, explaining the rationale behind this decision. She stated, “Previously, students were given 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the exam to read and prepare as they received their question papers in advance. However, due to instances of question papers circulating on social media, this practice was discontinued.”

In response to the demands from parents and recognizing the potential benefits for students, the state board has decided to extend an extra 10 minutes after the scheduled end time for examinations. Oak clarified that the board conducts exams in two sessions: the morning session at 11 am and the afternoon session at 3 pm. Students are advised to arrive at the exam hall 30 minutes before both sessions.

This initiative aims to provide students with a conducive environment for a comprehensive review of their answers, ensuring a fair and effective examination process. The board encourages all students to utilize this additional time wisely to enhance the quality of their responses.
