Maharashtra State Board’s HSC Examination Set to Begin Tomorrow

Pune, 10th February 2025: According to the timetable announced by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the HSC (12th standard) examinations will commence across the state on 11th February, i.e., tomorrow. A total of 15,05,037 students are registered to appear for the exams this year.
Maharashtra State Board Chairman Sharad Gosavi revealed in a press conference that the examinations will be conducted at 3,373 main centres across 10,550 junior colleges in the state. The student breakdown includes 8,10,348 male candidates, 6,94,652 female candidates, and 37 transgender candidates.
Gosavi highlighted that the exams are being held 10 days earlier than usual this year, which is expected to lead to an earlier result declaration. The results for both 10th and 12th standards are anticipated to be announced by 15th May.
The stream-wise distribution of candidates shows 7,68,967 students in Science, 3,80,410 in Arts, 3,19,439 in Commerce, 31,735 in Minimum Skill-based Curriculum, and 4,486 in Technical Science.
To prevent malpractices during the examination, the board has implemented several measures. These include the deployment of 271 flying squads across the state and the identification of 818 centres as sensitive based on malpractice incidents in the past five years.
The sensitive centres are distributed across various divisions, with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar having the highest number at 205, followed by Pune with 125, Amravati with 124, and Nagpur with 104. Mumbai has 57 sensitive centres, while Nashik and Latur have 88 and 73, respectively. Kolhapur has 39 such centres, and Konkan has the least with 3.
The board has assured that these sensitive centres will be under special surveillance to ensure the fair conduct of the examinations. This comprehensive approach aims to maintain the integrity of the HSC exams across Maharashtra.
