Nashik, 24th March 2025: The Maharashtra government will integrate selected elements of the CBSE curriculum into the Std I syllabus from the 2025-26 academic year, while retaining the existing SSC board framework, Education Minister Dada Bhuse clarified on Sunday.

Amid growing confusion among parents and teachers regarding the proposed curriculum changes, Bhuse assured that the state board’s structure will remain intact, with only certain CBSE elements being adopted. The responsibility of preparing the revised textbooks has been assigned to Balbharati, the state’s textbook bureau.

“There seems to be some misunderstanding about the new approach,” Bhuse stated while addressing the media in Nashik. “Let me clarify: We are not replacing the Maharashtra State Board curriculum. Instead, only select features of the CBSE pattern will be introduced for Std I students in the upcoming academic year. Balbharati will continue to develop and print textbooks while researching curriculum improvements,” he added.

Bhuse acknowledged concerns from students, parents, teachers, and education experts and assured that detailed information would be provided during the ongoing assembly session.

“We understand that there is uncertainty surrounding this decision. Over the next few days, we will present a clear explanation in the Assembly. Additionally, the government will organize a press conference to discuss the changes and seek input from education experts before the final implementation,” Bhuse stated.

He expressed confidence that the people of Maharashtra would support this initiative, emphasizing that the government is committed to enhancing the quality of education without disrupting the current system.

On the issue of teacher recruitment, Bhuse confirmed that the second phase of the hiring process is in its final stages.

“There were delays at some Zilla Parishad offices in finalizing teacher muster rolls, which led to deadline extensions. However, I am confident that the recruitment process will resume within the next eight days,” he assured.
