Maharashtra: Technical Glitches Derail Class 11 Admission Process, First Merit List Delayed Again
Mumbai, 25th June 2025: The Class 11 admission process in Maharashtra continues to be plagued by delays and technical disruptions, with the announcement of the first merit list now postponed once again. Originally scheduled for June 10 and then deferred to June 26, the list is now expected to be delayed by another four to five days, leaving students and parents frustrated and anxious.
The delay comes despite efforts by the Maharashtra State Board to speed up the process this year by announcing the Class 10 results 15 days earlier than usual. However, technical glitches from day one have thrown the centralized online admission system into chaos, affecting thousands of students across the state.
According to Education Director Mahesh Palkar, changes need to be made to the admission website following a new government resolution regarding the minority quota. These modifications, based on directives issued in light of a High Court order, are expected to take a few more days, further pushing back the release of the merit list.
“We are working on updating the system as per the High Court’s order on the minority quota. This technical overhaul is essential, and we request students and parents to remain patient,” Palkar said.
Timeline of Delays
May 21: Original date for registration, but postponed due to technical issues.
May 26: Registration begins, but students continue to face repeated glitches.
June 7: Online application process finally concludes.
June 10: Initially scheduled date for first merit list.
June 26: Revised date for first merit list—now postponed again.
Parents have expressed outrage over the repeated delays, fearing that the academic year may be severely impacted.
Despite repeated assurances from authorities, there has been little visible progress in resolving the technical issues that have become a recurring feature of the Class 11 Centralized Admission Process (CAP) over the past few years.
