Newborn Found Dead in Pune’s Viman Nagar; Police Register Case
Viman Nagar, 25th June 2025: A shocking incident came to light in Pune’s Viman Nagar area, where the body of a newborn was found at a labour camp at Devkarvasti opposite Konark Nagar Phase One. The Airport Police have registered a case against unidentified individuals in connection with the incident.
According to the FIR filed by Digvijay Desai (23), a site supervisor, the lifeless body of a newborn was discovered around 2 PM on Tuesday near the women’s toilet in stagnant water at the labour camp.
Police were immediately informed after the body was found. A team rushed to the scene, and the infant was promptly taken to Sassoon General Hospital, where doctors declared the baby dead before treatment could begin.
Preliminary findings suggest that the newborn was abandoned in a helpless state and that no attempt was made by the parents to take responsibility. A case has been registered under the relevant sections for abandoning a newborn and shirking parental responsibility.
