Nagpur, 12th December 2023: Tension gripped the Vidhan Bhavan area in Nagpur as the Yuva Sangharsh Yatra led by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Rohit Pawar took an aggressive turn. The march, part of a protest, saw clashes with the police, resulting in the detention of several activists.

The Yuva Sangharsh Yatra, led by Rohit Pawar, covered a distance of 800 km across the Maharashtra State, passing through 400 villages. The yatra aimed to address issues such as farmer concerns, youth concerns, unemployment, women’s safety, and healthcare. The culmination of the journey in Nagpur was marked by a large gathering, with speeches from prominent leaders, including NCP President Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut.

As the yatra moved towards Vidhan Bhavan, the police intervened, erecting barricades to stop the activists. Tensions escalated as activists attempted to break through the barricades, leading to clashes with the police. Rohit Pawar, along with other NCP leaders, was stopped by the police.

In response, Rohit Pawar criticized the authorities, expressing concerns about the treatment of common people and alleging lathi charges against labourers. He called for discussions on critical issues affecting farmers, youth, competitive exams, unemployment, women’s safety, and healthcare.

Rohit Pawar, along with other activists, organized a sit-in protest near a police vehicle following their detention. The atmosphere turned tense as the activists adopted an assertive stance, causing chaos in the area. Rohit Pawar, an NCP MLA associated with the Sharad Pawar group, urged the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers to meet and address the issues at hand.

In response, Rohit Pawar remarked, “Look at their ego! Do you send the BJP city president for discussion? They don’t leave the common people. They lathi-charge the common people. These are children of farmers. There are children of the poor. You are lathi charging them. We are raising issues of farmers, poor people, youth, students taking competitive exams, unemployment, women’s safety, health, etc. We want to solve it by discussing it. We want to talk but they have arrogance. They send the tehsildar, they send the BJP president of this city. What do you mean Chief Minister Eknath Shinde? Are you not strong?” said Rohit Pawar.

Expressing concern, Pawar questioned the responsiveness of the authorities, highlighting that if they were not attentive to the concerns raised by an MLA, it raised doubts about how they would address the grievances of the general public.

Despite attempts by the police to discuss and explain the situation, Rohit Pawar remained firm on his demands. Eventually, the police used force to detain activists, including Rohit Pawar, leading to further commotion in the area.
