Maharashtra Voter List Revision: ECI Sets October 12 Deadline, Final Roll On November 16

Mumbai/New Delhi, 26th September 2026: The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra, setting October 12 as the last day for filing claims and objections and November 16 for publication of the final electoral roll.

In a letter dated September 26 to Maharashtra’s chief electoral officer, the commission said the revised schedule follows a request from the state dated September 24. The revision uses October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.

Under the new schedule, the period for filing claims and objections runs from August 31 to October 12, 2026. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections run from August 31 to November 10, giving election officials time after the filing deadline to process them. Final publication is scheduled for November 16.

The letter, signed by Under Secretary Sandeep Kumar, asks that the commission’s accompanying notification be published immediately in an extraordinary issue of the Maharashtra State Gazette.
