Mahavitaran’s ‘Go-Green’ Scheme Gains Momentum in Pune as Over One Lakh Residents Embrace Paperless Electricity Billing

Pune, 13th May 2023: Pune residents have reached a significant milestone in Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited’s ‘Go-Green’ scheme, with over one lakh eco-friendly electricity consumers opting for paperless billing through emails and SMS.
This initiative has positioned Pune circle as a leader in the state, resulting in annual savings of Rs 1 crore 20 lakhs 840 crores for 107,194 electricity consumers.
The ‘Go-Green’ scheme has emerged as a crucial need of the hour to promote a sustainable environment. Through the Mahavitran mobile app and website, customers can access their current and previous electricity bills, payment information, and monthly consumption data. Rajendra Pawar, Chief Engineer of Pune Circle, has appealed to more electricity consumers to participate in the scheme by eliminating the use of paper bills.
Since February, an additional 7,194 electricity consumers have joined this environmental-friendly scheme. Across the state, a total of 3,87,757 electricity consumers have embraced the ‘Go-Green’ initiative. Pune circle boasts the highest participation with 1,07,000 customers, followed by Kalyan with 42,214 and Bhandup with 37,396 participants.
Under the ‘Go-Green’ scheme, customers receive a discount of Rs 120 on their annual electricity bills. As soon as the bill is generated, it is sent through a computerized system via email, while bill information is also provided through SMS. This streamlined process facilitates prompt payments and empowers customers to take full advantage of the benefits.
In Pune city, 53,273 customers have participated in the ‘Go-Green’ scheme, with significant numbers in sub-divisions such as Hadapsar-1 (6,050), Vadgaon Dhayari (5,184), Dhankawadi (4,900), Aundh (4,365), and Vishrantwadi (3,857). In Pimpri Chinchwad city, 29,205 electricity consumers have joined the scheme, with the highest numbers in Sangvi sub-division (9,042), Chinchwad (5,661), and Akurdi (5,525). Additionally, 17,529 consumers in Ambegaon, Junnar, Khed, Maval, Mulshi, Velhe, and Haveli talukas under Pune Gramin Mandal have embraced the ‘Go-Green’ initiative, with Hadapsar rural subdivision leading the way with 4,712 participants.
For more information and to opt for the ‘Go-Green’ scheme, electricity consumers can visit Mahadiscom’s mobile app or website at www.mahadiscom.in. Participants can save their monthly electricity bill received via email in a soft copy on their computer, retaining the option to print it if necessary. The website also provides access to current and previous eleven months’ electricity bills in their original form, which can be downloaded or printed in color as needed.
