Major Breakthrough: Pune Police Arrest Gang Involved in Katraj Passenger Robberies

Pune, 6th June 2023: The officials of Bharti Vidyapeeth police station have successfully arrested a gang of robbers involved in targeting passengers in the Katraj area of Pune. The suspects were found in possession of stolen two-wheelers and a weapon known as a koyta.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Raju Nagnath Kamble (20 years old) and Atharva Ravindra Adsul (20 years old), both residents of Taljai Colony, Padmavati. Additionally, a minor has been detained in connection with the case.

The incident occurred two days ago when a passenger from another state was approached by the robbers under the pretense of seeking directions in the Katraj area. The victim resisted the criminals, leading to a violent altercation during which he was stabbed in the head with the koyta. The robbers made off with Rs 4,500 from the victim’s pocket. Following the incident, the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police launched a comprehensive search operation to track down the culprits.

Police personnel Avadhoot Jamdade, Abhinay Chaudhary, and Ashish Gaikwad received vital information regarding the robbers. Subsequently, Raju Kamble, Ravindra Adsul, and their minor accomplice were apprehended.

This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, Assistant Commissioner Narayan Shirgaonkar and Senior Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar. The team included Police Inspector (Crime) Vijay Puranik, Assistant Inspector Amol Rasal, Sub Inspector Dheeraj Gupta, and Sachin Sarpale, Shailesh Sathe, Chetan Gore, and Nilesh Dhamdere.
