Major Drug Bust in Lonavala: Pune Rural Police Arrest 4, Seize MD Drug Powder

Lonavala, 17th June 2024: The Pune Rural Police conducted two raids in the Lonavala area, resulting in the arrest of 4 individuals and the seizure of goods worth Rs 12 lakh, including MD Drug powder. Four drug peddlers were apprehended during these operations. The first raid took place on 9th June in Kamshet, followed by the second raid on 16th June along Raigad Kurawade Road in Lonavala.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik, since assuming control of the Lonavala Division, has initiated a campaign aimed at combating the addiction issues among youth in Maval Taluka. As part of this effort, drug peddlers and dealers are being actively pursued and arrested. Additionally, educational programs are being conducted to educate local youth on avoiding addiction and steering clear of such harmful substances.
As part of this campaign, on 9th June, the Lonavala Division team received information and conducted a raid within the jurisdiction of Kamshet Police Station at a chawl. During the operation, they arrested Dinesh Deepak Shinde (age 24, resident of Kamshet) and Saurabh Rajesh Shingare (age 24, resident of Kamshet). The raid resulted in the seizure of goods worth Rs 3,20,146, including 32 grams of MD drug powder. Police Constable Amol Nanaware filed a complaint at Kamshet Police Station, where a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985. Police Sub-Inspector Shubham Chavan is further investigating the matter.
On 16th June, acting on information from a confidential source, the Lonavala Division team conducted an early morning raid under the jurisdiction of Lonavala Police Station. They arrested Shivaji Maruti Kadu (age 35, resident of Kurwande, Maval) and Dilip Baban Pingale (age 29, resident of Kunegaon, Maval). The raid resulted in the seizure of goods worth Rs 8,94,000, including MD powder intended for sale and a Maruti Suzuki Brezza car. Police Sub Inspector Shubham Chavan filed the complaint at Lonavala Police Station, and a case under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985 has been registered. Assistant Police Inspector Laad is continuing the investigation.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh and Additional Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chopade. The team, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik and assisted by Police Sub Inspector Shubham Chavan, included Police Constables Nitesh Kawade, Ankush Naykude, Datta Shinde, Ganesh Yelwande, Subhash Shinde, Amol Nanaware, Ankush Pawar, Ganesh Thakur, Pratik Kale, Mahesh Thorat, Saurabh Sabale, and Yash Malwe.
