Major Rail Accident Averted in Pune: Boulders Found On Railway Track During Routine Maintenance

Pune 6th Oct 2023: The Railway authorities in the Pune division have a major accident by timely removing the big boulders placed on railway tracks by some anti-social elements. The boulders were found in the Chinchwad-Akurdi section at around 4 pm on Friday.

According to railway authorities, the major boulders were placed on up line track. “While our railway staff of Civil engineering department has gone in this section for routine track maintenance weld testing work, staff observed that major boulders were kept on UP Line track.

Timely detection of this miscreant activity by staff avoided possibility of major unusual. Further investigation is going on by RPF and GRP” the railway authorities said in a statement.

“Boulders were first observed by guard Mr Sandeep Bhalerao of down Lonavala-Pune local train no. 01561. He informed this to station master of chinchwad Mr Mathew George. Station master informed it to Loco pilot of 16352 UP Nagarcoil-CSMT Express, Mr MV Pavalkar and guard of 16352 Mr DK Verma and gave instructions to move with caution. 16352 express passed safely after removal of boulders. Train No. 11030 Kolhapur-CSMT koyna Express was 2nd express” the railway officials said.
