Major Seizures of Cash, Liquor, and Drugs in Pune District Ahead of Elections

Pune, 6th November 2024: Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, authorities in Pune District have confiscated items worth Rs 16.34 crore, including cash, liquor, drugs, and gold. The Pune District Collector’s Office provided this update in an official statement.

The highest seizure was recorded in the Khadakwasla Constituency, amounting to Rs 5.22 crore, followed by Shirur at Rs 4.27 crore, and Bhor at Rs 1.36 crore. On the other hand, the smallest amounts were seized in Ambegaon (Rs 4.35 lakh), Pimpri (Rs 6.16 lakh), and Shivajinagar (Rs 6.53 lakh).

The seized items include Rs 9.01 crore in cash, liquor worth Rs 3.05 crore, drugs valued at Rs 40 lakh, and precious metals totalling Rs 1.04 crore. Shirur constituency is the only one where a significant quantity of precious metals was recovered. In total, authorities seized 4.35 lakh litres of liquor.
