Make effective, transparent implementation of Atal Megamarketing Development Campaign, Atal Economic Assistance Scheme : Fadnavis

Mumbai, July 24, 2019: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today called upon the representatives of the cooperative institutions in the state to make effective and transparent implementation of Atal Megamarketing Development Campaign, Atal Economic Assistance Scheme.

Fadnavis was speaking at the valedictory function of the state level workshop of Atal Economic Assistance Scheme at Shanamukhanand Hall here. State Cooperative Minister Subhash Deshmukh, Principal Secretary Abha Shukla, Commissioner, Cooperative Satish Soni, Managing Director of Cooperative Development Corporation Milind Aakre and representatives of cooperative institutions from across the state were present on this occasion.

Chief Minister Fadnavis further said that earlier the benefits of any cooperative scheme would go to a selected few institutions. They were run like a private limited company and the cooperative sector was just like the private sector. Now this has stopped. Development and progress of all is expected from cooperative and not of the few. The institutions that received economic assistance through Atal Economic Assistance Scheme should work with this mission, he appealed to them. Cooperative does not mean ownership but the idea of trusteeship is involved in it and we all should work with this understanding, he said.

At present Rs 500 crore have been granted for this scheme. The CM appealed to all to make this scheme successful and benefits of this should reach to the common people. More fund would be made available in future for this scheme, he said.

Cooperative Minister Subhash Deshmukh said that new cooperative institutions are encouraged through the Atal Megamarketing Development Campaign and Atal Economic Assistance Scheme. He urged the new cooperative institutions to make proper utilization of the economic assistance and loan they received. Efforts should be made to create job opportunities in the villages so that the youth will not have to wander in search of livelihood outside his village. The cooperative sector should do an extensive work in this direction, he added. He also appealed to the new cooperative institutions to contribute their mite for the development of cooperative sector.

On this occasion Website of Cooperative Development Corporation was launched and various informative books were released by the Chief Minister on this occasion. Some cooperative institutions were given loans and grants sanction orders at the hands of the Chief Minister as a token.
