Man Chops Off Finger On Camera To Protest Against Police Inaction In Brother’s Suicide Case, Admitted To Pune Hospital

Pune 19th August 2023: A 43-year-old man on Friday chopped off his finger to protest against the police inaction in a case related to suicide of his brother sister-in-law. He also recorded it on camera and shared the video on social media which went viral immediately after the incident. The administration and representatives of the government were alerted after this incident and they rushed to his help. He was taken to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune for the treatment from Phaltan in Satara by providing a green corridor.

 

Dhananjay Nanavare (43), a resident of Phaltan had threatened to chop off his body parts one by one to protest against the police inaction. It is alleged that his brother Nandkumar Nanavare (45) and his wife Urmila (44) died by suicide on August 1 in Ulhasnagar following alleged harassment from some men. The couple had left a suicide note by naming few people and a case of abetment to suicide was also registered against 8 people.

 

However, Dhananjay has alleged that the investigation has not progressed in the case and the police are not taking the matter seriously. In a recorded video. he threatened to send body parts one by one to Deputy Chief Minister Devedndra Fadnavis every week to protest against the police. According to reports, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed doctors at the Ruby Hall Clinic to carry out reconstructive surgery on Dhananjay’s hand. The police have also swung into action and several accused were detained soon after this incident.
