Ahmednagar/Pune, 18th February 2022: In a joint operation, Military Intelligence (MI) of Army’s Southern Command and Ahmednagar police have nabbed a man who impersonated as army officer duped several youths of lakhs of rupees under the pretext of making them join the armed forces.
He had also issued joining letters and medical slips to several candidates to join as Para Commando in Territorial Army in Belgaum (Karnataka). He had also pretended as a Para Commando and married an engineer girl in 2020.
The suspect has been identified as Navnath Savleram Guldagad, a resident of Rahuri taluka in Ahmednagar district.
According to officials, Guldagad has been under watch for the last one month. After getting evidence, today evening he was caught by the Local Crime Branch and Military Intelligence team from his relative’s house in Mandawa village on Ahmednagar-Kalyan Road in Ahmednagar.
The accused had duped several prospective candidates and their families impersonating as Subedar, Captain and Colonel of the Indian Army.
The process of registering a case is going on at Rahuri police station.
