Man Murdered Over Family Dispute in Pimpri Chinchwad, Accused Detained by Police

Pimpri Chinchwad, 7th December 2024: A tragic incident unfolded in Pimpri Chinchwad, where a 23-year-old man was murdered by a relative due to a family dispute. The accused, along with a minor accomplice, used a sharp weapon to kill the victim. Following swift police action, both suspects have been detained.

The victim, identified as Sachin Kumar Lakhidar Rai, originally from Bihar and residing in Charholi Budruk, was discovered dead on 5th December around 7 PM. The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s Anti-Extortion Squad and Industry Cell promptly launched an investigation after the case was registered at Dighi Police Station.

The suspects include 22-year-old Gautam Ramanand Rai, a resident of Wakad originally from Bihar, and a 17.5-year-old minor from Mohitewadi, Maval Taluka, Pune District, originally hailing from Karnataka. After identifying the accused through a detailed examination of the crime scene and CCTV footage, the police located Gautam Rai in the Kala Khadak area of Wakad. Upon his arrest, Gautam confessed to the crime, revealing that it stemmed from a family conflict. The minor accomplice was detained shortly after.

This operation was conducted under the leadership of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, with contributions from Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-2) Balasaheb Kopner. The team, headed by Senior Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, included Assistant Police Sub Inspector Sunil Kangude and Police Constables Pradeep Godambe, Ashish Botake, Chandrakant Jadhav, Dnyaneshwar Kurhade, Mangesh Jadhav, and Nagesh Mali.
