Maratha Protesters Attempt to Gherao CM Fadnavis During Pune Visit
Pune, 17th September 2026: Even as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed to Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange-Patil to call off his agitation, a group of Maratha protesters attempted to gherao the chief minister in Pune on Wednesday.
Fadnavis had arrived at the residence of Union minister of state Murlidhar Mohol to offer prayers to Lord Ganesha when a group of Maratha protesters gathered outside the premises and raised slogans against him.
The protesters also attempted to surround the chief minister. Police personnel intervened promptly and tried to pacify them. However, as the sloganeering continued, police detained some of the protesters.
