Maratha Quota Agitation Update: Manoj Jarange Concludes 17-Day Fast, Shifts Focus to Chain Hunger Strike
Jalna, 26th February 2024: Manoj Jarange Patil decided to conclude his fast after 17 days, citing a decline in his health. Throughout this period, he has been advocating for the Maratha reservation, alternating between protests and fasting. His primary demand is the inclusion of the Maratha community in the OBC quota.
Patil emphasizes the adherence to the notification issued by Chief Minister Shinde regarding ‘Sagesoyre’ (Blood Relations), expressing dissatisfaction even with a proposed 10% separate reservation for the Maratha community.
Jarange Patil levelled a grave accusation, asserting that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was accountable for the lack of reservation for the Maratha community. In response, he issued a warning to stage a protest at Devendra Fadnavis’ Sagar bungalow in Mumbai and embarked on his way to Mumbai for this purpose. However, his health deteriorated en route, compelling him to return to Antarwali Sarati. Notably, he decided to end his 17-day-long fast this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Manoj Jarange Patil has declared the transformation of his indefinite hunger strike into a chain hunger strike. He is encouraging others to join in this chain of fasting, extending the appeal to different parts of the Maharashtra State.
