Pune, January 24, 2021: Pune Police Joint Commissioner Ravindra speaks about mask not compulsory for family members travelling in their private car. However, he clarified that the mask is still mandatory if two family members are riding a bike.

Jt CP Shiswe issued a statement today after the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) issued an order in this regard. “Wearing a mask in public places is necessary to prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID19). However, if members of a family are travelling in their private car, then it is not mandatory for them to wear the mask. However, if two family members are riding a bike they will have to wear the mask”, Jt CP Shiswe stated in his video message.

People had been demanding this rule for many months as wearing a mask was made mandatory after relaxation in lockdown. This led to arguments between the public and police. Lakhs of people have paid a fine for not wearing the mask.
