Ministers Must Undergo RT-PCR Test Before Meeting PM Modi Amid Rising COVID Cases

New Delhi, 11th June 2025: In light of a recent spike in COVID-19 cases across India, ministers will now be required to undergo an RT-PCR test before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This precautionary measure has been introduced to ensure the Prime Minister’s safety and prevent the spread of the virus within high-level government circles.

According to data released by the Union Ministry of Health, India recorded 306 new COVID-19 cases and six fatalities in the last 24 hours. The rise in infections has prompted heightened vigilance and renewed containment efforts, especially in states witnessing surging numbers.

Kerala reported the highest single-day tally with 170 new cases, pushing the state’s active caseload to 2,223. Gujarat followed with 114 fresh infections, taking its active cases to 1,223. Karnataka reported 100 new cases, increasing its active total to 459.

Among the six COVID-related deaths, three were reported from Kerala, two from Karnataka, and one from Maharashtra.

As part of the response strategy, government hospitals across the country have begun preparations on a war footing. Isolation wards are being activated, and authorities are working to ensure an adequate supply of essential medicines.

With the virus making a comeback in certain regions, the government is urging citizens and officials alike to remain vigilant and follow necessary precautions.
