Minor Girl From Pune Sold For Rs 50,000 In Madhya Pradesh, Accused Arrested

Pune, 28th March 2023: A minor girl was sold for Rs 50,000 in Madhya Pradesh by luring her to meet her boyfriend. She was also threatened into marriage with a man.

The incident came to light after Bharti Vidyapeeth Police rescued the girl from a village in Madhya Pradesh after three months. In this case, the police arrested the woman who sold the minor girl for Rs 50,000 and the girl’s husband.

Shanti alias Santo Harnam Kushwah (40), a resident of Pune and native of Girwasa, Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, and Dharmendra Kiledar Singh Yadav (22), a resident of Gyara, Datia, Madhya Pradesh, have been arrested in this case.

A case has been registered against the accused for cheating, kidnapping, child sexual abuse, child marriage, and rape.

The parents of the 14-year-old girl had lodged a complaint at the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station on 17th January. The girl’s parents are daily wage earners.

Police Sub-Inspector Atul Thorat received information that the minor girl was in Madhya Pradesh. Soon, a team of police constables Ravindra Chippa, Sagar Konde, and Pooja Londhe left for Madhya Pradesh. With the help of the local police, the team learnt that the minor girl was in a village and was forcibly married to Dharmendra. Police raided Dharmendra’s house and rescued the girl.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Smartana Patil informed during a press conference yesterday that the minor girl is safe and has been united with her parents. Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station’s Senior Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar was present.

The minor girl’s sister works in a private company. The young girl fell in love with one of the employees of this company. Accused Shanti was working in this company too. She is familiar with Dharmendra. Dharmendra had told her that if she would bring him a girl for marriage, he would give her Rs 50,000. Shanti tricked the minor girl into believing that the person she was in a relationship with was in Madhya Pradesh. She said that the two of them could be married there. The accused took the minor girl to Madhya Pradesh.

On 23rd January, she was forcibly married to Dharmendra. Dharmendra threatened the girl and forced her to stay silent about the situation.
