Pune: Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Cheated of Rs 66 Lakh in Land Scam, FIR Registered

Katraj, 27th March 2023: A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) was allegedly cheated of Rs 66 lakh under the pretext of buying cheap land in Bhor. An FIR of extortion by fraud has been registered against three persons at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.

The accused have been identified as Rajesh Ankush Pote, Sandesh Ankush Pote, and Priyanka Nilesh Suryavanshi, all residents of Vadgaon Budruk.

The retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Fattesinh Nanasaheb Patil (59), a resident of Bhosale Nagar, filed a complaint against the trio. According to the police, the accused earned Patil’s trust and took ₹60 lakh from him between January 2015 and date, stating that they were buying him land in Bhor at a cheap price. However, they allegedly cheated him without giving him any land.

When Patil demanded his money back, the accused reportedly went to his residence and threatened him not to claim the amount. Fearing financial loss, Patil allegedly caved into another extortion of Rs 6 lakh in March 2021. Finally, Patil filed a complaint with the police, leading to the FIR registration.
