Pune, 28th March 2023: Entry and security check at Pune airport will be smooth for passengers. Passengers will be identified with the help of the facial recognition system at the airport. The DigiYatra platform will be used for this purpose from Friday (31st March).

While the use of DigiYatra will be introduced, the existing airport check-in and security screening arrangements will remain in place. Passengers will have to choose between DigiYatra and the existing system. The airport administration will try to make a maximum number of passengers use DigiYatra.

Currently, DigiYatra is being used at three airports in the country. The facility was introduced at Delhi, Bengaluru and Varanasi airports in December last year. Pune will be the fourth airport to have this facility. After this, this facility will be made available at Kolkata, Hyderabad and Vijayawada airports.

Passengers have to download the DigiYatra application on their mobiles. Passengers can keep their identity cards and travel-related documents on the app. Upon arrival at the airport, the passenger will be identified through facial recognition technology. At the same time, the identity cards of the passengers will also be checked; this will reduce the waiting time.
