Missing Files of 34 PMC School Land Proposals Trigger Row; Former Corporator Demands Probe
Pune, 31st July 2026: The disappearance of files related to 34 Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) school land proposals has sparked controversy, with former corporator Ujjwal Keskar alleging serious lapses in the civic administration and demanding a high-level inquiry into the matter.
Addressing a press conference, Keskar claimed that files pertaining to land reserved for municipal schools have gone missing from the PMC administration. He alleged that the disappearance of the records raises serious questions about the functioning of the civic body and called for strict action against those responsible.
According to Keskar, he had sought information regarding the land proposals under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. In response, the administration reportedly informed him that the relevant files could not be traced.
Keskar said he subsequently raised the issue with the Municipal Commissioner, who directed the Education Department to locate the missing records. However, despite these instructions, the files are yet to be found.
The former corporator questioned how crucial government records related to public land could go missing and demanded that responsibility be fixed. He urged the PMC administration to conduct a thorough investigation, trace the missing documents, and initiate criminal proceedings against those found guilty of negligence or any deliberate wrongdoing.
He also stressed the need to strengthen the civic body’s record management system to ensure that important public documents are properly maintained and protected.
