MLA Madhuri Misal undertakes inspection of Mutha canal wall rebuild
Pune, June, 21, 2019 : On the backdrop of the Mutha canal wall breach incident happened last year in Janata Vasahat, MLA Madhuri Misal today visited the canal and undertook an inspection along with the officers of Water Resources Department. Misal conducted a review about the canal wall rebuilding and instructed the respective officers to look into the remaining tasks urgently.
In September 2018, the right wall of the Mutha canal had a major breach near Dandekar bridge, resulting into losses for families living in Janata Vasahat. Misal today took a detailed inspection of the area. Pandurang Shelar, Chief Executive Engineer, Water Resources Department, other officers, local corporators and volunteers accompanied her.
On observation of some part the land portion looking sunk in number of places near the canal, Misal suggested the officer to build a protective wall on both sides of the canal and also requested a quotation for the work.
‘‘The proposal will be sent to Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan and work will start assoon funds are made available. Officers also assured me that the tender process for the cleaning of canal willstartin next 4 to 5 days.’’, She said.
Corporators Anand Rithe, Shankar Pawar, Anita Kadam, Smita Vaste along with Jeevan Mane, Harish Pardeshi, Shailesh Deshpande and others were present.
