Monsoon arrives in Kerala, heavy rains in Kozhikode

New Delhi, 1 June 2020 : The southwest monsoon indicated arrival in Kerala on Monday. With this, there were indications of the beginning of the rainy season for four months in the country. In Kozhikode district, it was raining this morning. This information was given by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday. Southwest monsoon has reached Kerala. IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra gave this information.

 

‘Skymet’, which forecast the weather, had informed of the arrival of monsoon on May 30, but according to IMD, there was no suitable possibility for such a declaration at that time. The country receives up to 75 percent of its rainfall during the monsoon season, which lasts for four months from June to September.

 

Preparations for monsoon related diseases

During the ongoing struggle from Covid-19, the government has also prepared its system for the prevention of diseases spreading during the monsoon season. IMD had informed about the arrival of monsoon in the state on Monday. According to the latest medical report released by the Directorate of Health (DHS) on its website on Sunday, the state reported around 2,660 fever cases on May 30 and 65,039 cases related to fever only in May.
